Why would anyone hire a failed founder? A PhD candidate who never finished? Someone who got laid off?

Wrong question. Not because the answer is yes — because you didn't write the question. Someone else decided that failure, incompletion, and layoff were the facts that define you, and somewhere along the way you agreed. You started introducing yourself with the wound.

The collapse of the 'years of experience' moat

For thirty years, the résumé was a proxy for something real: years accumulated, patterns learned, mistakes survived. Enterprise systems ran on people who had absorbed enough of the machine to operate it correctly. Knowledge was scarce, so tenure was currency.

AI just broke that currency. What took you a decade to learn, a model retrieves in a second. What took a team a quarter to build, an agent drafts overnight. The years-of-experience moat is draining fast, and it isn't coming back.

So what's left, when the thing that used to prove your worth is now nearly free?

What AI cannot retrieve: conviction, taste, and choice

What's left is what was never about accumulation in the first place — what you believe, what you value, what you notice that others walk past. Taste. Conviction. The part of you no model can retrieve, because it isn't stored anywhere. It's chosen, moment by moment, by you.

This is where agentic AI skill matters — not as one more tool to learn, but as the thing that lets a belief become output without asking anyone's permission first. You don't need a team to test a conviction anymore. You need to know how to direct an agent that builds, ships, and iterates while you sleep. That's the multiplier: one person with real taste, agents doing the labor that used to require headcount.
